I had a longer list of people -- living or who might have living relatives -- but I had to take it down in case someone doesn't want that information online. But made up people don't have to worry about that and made up people don't sue real life people. So here's a list of fictional characters who have problems that make them appear as if they have Asperger Syndrome.

Monk, played by Tony Shalhoub in Monk

Alan Shore, played by James Spader in Boston Legal.

Detective Robert Goren, played by Vincent D'Onofrio in Law & Order: Criminal Intent

The Thermians in the movie, Galaxy Quest

Andrew Martin the Robot, played by Robin Williams in Bicentennial Man, from a story by Isaac Asimov

Jimmy Neutron, from the cartoon Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius

Dexter from the cartoon Dexter's Laboratory

Barry (played by Jack Black) and Rob Gordon (played by John Cusack) in High Fidelity, a movie based on the book of the same name by Nick Hornby

Edward Scissorhands (played by Johnny Depp) in Edward Scissorhands

Dick, Sally, Harry and Tommy Solomon, played by John Lithgow, Kristen Johnston, French Stewart and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in 3rd Rock from the Sun

Alex P Keaton, played by Michael J Fox in Family Ties

And there's lots of fictional characters in the STAR TREK family of story lines that appear to have Asperger Syndrome including:

Mr. Spock (played by Leonard Nimoy) in the original Star Trek series and movies

Data (played by Brent Spiner) and Reginald Barclay (played by Dwight Schultz) in Star Trek: The Next Generation

Seven of Nine (played by Jeri Ryan) and The Doctor (played by Robert Picardo) in Star Trek: Voyager

I am certain there are lots more, but those are the ones I feel are good representations of Asperger Syndrome manifesting itself in individuals, even if they are fictional. I will continue adding to this list as I identify fictional characters with traits that are part of Asperger Syndrome.

Here are real people who have been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome and who have stated publicly that they are Aspies. Each name is linked to an article provided as supporting evidence for making these claims.
Satoshi Tajiri (famous creator of Pokémon)
Stephen Spielberg (famous movie director)
Bram Cohen (famous technology guru)
Dan Aykroyd (famous comedian)
Vernon L. Smith (famous mathematician)
Gary Numan (famous musician)
Lewis Schofield (cool kid with great ideas)
